Here's something I was trying to do that is obviously too elaborated for my level. I waste too much time when I should continue doing exercises. Particulary drawing. The only thing I'm going to try to do with colour in the next few weeks is just to observe and try to understand. So here it is. I did the values and then just put a colour layer on top. Couldn't be asked anymore because I'm trying to guess instead of trying to practice, so,... back to the exercises!

  1. Hey dude... Heres a thought... You might benefit from some speed painting work. By that I mean paint something in about a single sitting. I think you can learn a lot more from the beginnings of paintings than at the end where you tighten everything together. It will help u focus on the structure of the drawing and be general about the lighting etc. When all these are set its only a matter of tightening it all up and thats the easy part. So my suggestion is to start speedy paintings and dont even bother to finish them. Knock a load of these out!

  2. yes. I was thinking about that. I'm just unsure if I should start with observation ones or just from imagination. I guess at this time maybe I should try to observe first. what do you think?

  3. Yes thats a good point. Because they are quick I think you can do mixtures of them. Just remember to be loose and quick thinking about structure and be general about details and dont let it narrow u down. Lighting is important to try out ere too. Think of these as beginnings of paintings (that is where a lot of the problem solving lies) and so you dont have to spend a lot of time to finish it you can do much more of these sketches.
